WDA Mission & Vision Trips FAQs
When considering whether to join WDA on an international trip, there are a few important things for you to know. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything in greater detail, please reach out to trips@disciplebuilding.org.
The details below are general guidelines for all WDA trips, however more specific details related to a WDA trip you are joining will be discussed and made available in advance of travel.
How can I join a WDA trip?
- Email trips@disciplebuilding.org with your interest. Tell us a little about yourself and provide a good phone number where we can reach you.
- Have a phone or in person conversation/interview with a WDA trip leader to learn more about the purpose & agenda of the trip and high-level expectations.
- A WDA Trip Leader will extend an official invitation to the trip.
What can I expect on a WDA trip?
On this trip, you will have a special part in serving toward the mission of building disciples! You will be immersed in several WDA ministry contexts and get to know WDA disciple builders who are doing ministry on the ground.
You may be assigned a particular role and while on the trip your trip leader may ask you to serve in a variety of ways. Flexibility, humility, and joy are key attributes for anyone going on a mission or vision trip with WDA.
Depending on where you are traveling with us, you might experience some venues, road trips, cultural contexts, or accommodations that may not match the level of comfort you are used to at home.
You can expect to experience God at work!

What is included/not included in the quoted trip cost?

- Accommodations
- Meals
- In-country travel
- Subsidizing cost for in-country WDA staff or leaders
- Materials & Training
- Trip Planning & Oversight
The cost of the trip does NOT include:
- Pre-trip medical examinations and/or vaccinations

Health/Medical Considerations
In order to join a WDA trip, individuals with a known or recurring medical condition must undergo & submit a pre-travel physical examination with a licensed physician prior to travel and obtain all required immunizations (the cost of these items not included in the quoted trip cost). Discuss the trip agenda/activities with your doctor, length & quality of travel by air and car, and underlying health issues that may be exacerbated by higher-risk, higher-stress environments. If you have had surgery within 12 months of the trip, you must additionally be assessed and cleared by your surgeon for travel.
Physical, mental, or emotional issues that you may have experienced can flare up in unexpected ways by an overseas trip and/or by different cultural experiences. If you have struggled in any way, had a surgery, or received ongoing care/treatment within the past year, please use prayerful wisdom in discerning whether or not an overseas trip is right for you at this time. The trip leader is available to discuss with you and provide helpful context if you need help in discerning whether or not a trip at this time is wise.
Trip members must have active health insurance coverage and are strongly encouraged to purchase trip insurance which includes trip cancellation coverage, medical coverage, and medical evacuation coverage while out of the country. View & compare travel insurance plans/rates at AARDY.com.
View potential health risks and advisories for over 200 countries on the Department of State’s website.
If an unforeseen health issue arises while on the trip, every effort will be made to establish medical care, and other reasonable accommodations will be made. At times, a trip leader may ask that a person sit out of an activity for their own physical/emotional protection, and/or for the ultimate success of the mission at hand. These decisions are not personal but are sometimes necessary. Understanding and flexibility are greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your interest in joining a WDA trip and participating in our mission – the Great Commission!
