Simon Maina Mwangi has been married to Phyllis Maina since 2005. Together they are blessed with two wonderful children Elpis Mwangi (18) and Rason Precious (12).  They live in Nyahururu town about 200kms North of Nairobi city, in Kenya.

Simon and Phyllis moved to Nyahururu town in September 2021 in response to the call of God to plant Newspring church. Newspring church which is a church under the Baptist convention of Kenya was officially launched in February 2022. Simon is serving as the lead pastor working with a team of four other pastors.

Simon is a Bible teacher, a counselor and a servant leader. He holds a bachelor of theology degree from South Africa theological seminary. He is also a holder of a higher diploma in marriage and family therapy and addiction counseling.  For close to ten years, Simon worked as an addiction counselor in various rehabilitation centers in Nairobi, Kenya. He has also served as an associate pastor and lead pastor in three different churches since the year 2005. Simon is also the moderator of the Aberdare Baptist convention, a regional convention of the Baptist churches. 

In 2023, Simon became connected with WDA and was recruited to lead a national rollout of the WDA Leadership Institute across Kenya, before officially joining staff in 2024.
