Dr. Cathy Tarzs
International Associate Staff
Kenya
About Cathy:
I was born in Kenya in a Christian home. My parents served as an elder and deaconess in the Presbyterian church until their passing on.
I became a Believer in 1983 at a tender age and was zealous to serve God. In the first short sermon I preached in our dormitory in school, 3 people gave their lives to Christ.
I’m trained as a teacher and this was my profession until 2005 when I felt the calling of God very urgently. Before joining full-time ministry, I was a Senior Lecturer at the renowned All Nations For Christ Bible Institute International in Benin City, Nigeria.
I am an empowered and charismatic Pastor, Teacher, Life Skills Coach, Conference Speaker, Relationship Expert, Marriage Counselor, and Therapist using the word of God and personal life lessons and experiences to impact lives. I am currently working on several books yet to be published.
I received my BA. In Theology from All Nations for Christ Bible Institution Intl. (Nigeria), have M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees in Biblical Studies from Patriot Bible University and Salt Lake Bible College USA, respectively. I also have an M.A. in Christian Counseling.
I met and married my husband, Brunaud, in 2009. We served as missionaries in Nigeria through 2017, when we felt God leading us to begin a work in Benin Republic, where my husband started a prayer center. In 2020, after COVID, we also felt God leading us to establish a work in Kenya.
In Kenya, we have the Ministry Horest International Ministries, under which an arm called Matters Of The Heart Solutions was born. This is the arm involved with mentoring, training, and counseling the family: couples, teens, youth, and singles. We do this through organizing workshops, seminars, retreats, and camps, where we share the Word and also discuss many issues affecting the various groups, especially relationships or marriages. We also hold marriage enrichment programs in collaboration with churches.
We are very passionate, intentional, and committed in the mentoring and training of youths, teens, and singles.
I met with Nate in 2018 while in Nigeria and that’s when he took us through several leadership trainings through to 2020. I have participated in several RYH trainings and have led several Cornerstone groups and RYH groups for various audiences.
I’m enthusiastic about being part of the WDA team because I believe in the mission of discipleship.
I feel RYH is a great tool God wants me to use here in Kenya to help those who are so broken and unable to receive God’s healing because they’ve never processed their pain or even understood their emotions. Especially for those who were taught in Church to just forgive, forget the past, etc… as a trained counselor I have met too many broken people who need restoration desperately.
I’m also excited to lead Cornerstone groups to teach on discipleship, because many have actually no idea what it means to be a disciple. When asked, they answer “to believe in Jesus”, but beyond that, they’re unaware.
I’m also excited because I will now be intentional in my training of mature leaders, especially among Church leaders whom I have encountered in my mission work.
