My Anglo-Indian name is Brian Leonard Williams. (Anglo means British) My kindred pioneered 700 plus English medium schools in 1947. My maternal grandfather and others launched the Indian Railway. (Today, the Indian Railways employ more than 1 million people.) Anglos contributed to making modern India. Our home for more
than 300 years.
At the age of 7 in 1977 I had blood cancer. The doctor said that I had one week to live. My parents, took me to a church in West Bengal. My Mom prayed “Jesus you gave me Brian I am giving him back to you”. As soon as she interceded, electricity went through my whole body. I was a shocked. I jumped up. Holy Spirit power went through me, back in Kolkata I was healed. One night, at the age of 8, I saw a boy with roman sandals up to his knees, throwing on the floor, my kites, very sadly. He was wearing a roman outfit and looking at me unhappily, suddenly he disappeared. Later, when I got saved, I realized it was my angel, who wanted to work with me, but was very sorrowful because I was still playing with kites rather than serving the Lord Jesus.
My Father was from the Church of England. My mother was a Roman Catholic. We did not go to church.
The Williams household was into partying. We knew nothing about the Bible nor Christ. While I was 19 in college, I felt empty on the inside, with all the parties. I started asking, “What’s the meaning of life?” I opened the book of Ecclesiastes in a hotel room, and found written in it, “Meaningless, meaningless, all is meaningless.” I thought, “I wrote this book. This is my heart. This is what I’m looking for. I came to the end where it says, “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…is the beginning of wisdom.” And instantly knew Jesus was and is the meaning of my life.
I got married to an amazing Nepali Ruth Reshma in 2003 and we have 9 amazing children. I founded The Agape Mission International (TAMI Asia) in 1998. Our 19 member team is rescuing and restoring Children and Women at Risk through education and job skills in Nepal, India, China, Bhutan and Pakistan. We equip leaders through our Bethesda Bishram and Bethel Ashrm mentoring homes. We oversee our network of churches, which has grown to 500 plus assemblies through our 25-year relationship with our 12 mentees in Nepal. I have 3 PhDs, written over 40 books, pioneered three Bible Colleges and hold professorships in 4 other seminaries in Nepal and India. My tent making skill is facilitating 75 plus corporate companies in management training in Nepal.
Why WDA? Michael Mercer introduced me to WDA in Nepal!
(1) I was shocked when he said, that I could join WDA without giving up my distinct ministry called Tami Asia. Together let us do a great work for God is my desire with WDA.
(2) Another thing he told me that WDA is a small group ministry.I again was surprised because for more than 35 years of my christian walk, I was and am a part of more than 35 distinct small group ministry.I love the relationships, accountability and the sharing of life situations in small groups and I look forward to enjoying that every week online with WDA.
(3) I would love my leaders in our Nepal network of 500 churches to join WDA as we grow together in small groups. I would like to also use RYH and all the other WDA resources alongside, our educating of street kids and empowering our dance bar and slum girls with job skills.
